The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that any applicants who were unable to complete the 2023 UTME within the allotted period due to circumstances beyond their control would have the exam rescheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023.
These categories mostly include candidates who (i) were validated at their centers but were unable to take the exam, (ii) could not be verified using biometrics, and (iii) had data that did not match.
You may recall that the Board set the dates for the 2023 UTME as Tuesday, April 25, through Tuesday, May 2.

This has mostly been accomplished because the exercise saw the fewest reported occurrences of infractions, but there have also been issues due to human error, which prevented some candidates from taking the exam on the first day. Despite this, only 80,166 of the 1,586,765 candidates who expressed interest in taking the exam remain unqualified.
Due to a variety of factors, certain candidates in some centers were unable to take the exam on the first day of the 2023 UTME as well as in some centers on subsequent days. Although a sizable portion of them had their exams rescheduled and took them, some have not yet done so.
The Board has set Saturday, May 6, 2023, for all categories of applicants who have not yet taken their test, as mentioned below, as part of the choices made at the conclusion of an emergency management meeting held on Sunday, April 31, 2023.
A. UNVERIFIED applicants These applicants registered for the 2023 UTME without
exhibiting any biometric issues, however they were unable to be confirmed on the exam day.
These applicants could not be authenticated to sit the exam on the planned exam day, despite not having previously displayed any fingerprint defects or encountered any biometric challenges during the 2023 UTME registration.
Under strict monitoring, these candidates will take their exam in Abuja.
APO, ABUJA CANDIDATES AT BEAUTIFUL BEGINNING CBT CENTER
The UTME exam has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023 for those candidates who were originally scheduled to take it at the Beautiful Beginning CBT Centre in Apo, Abuja, but missed it for any reason.
The mistake in the center's address caused several candidates to miss their examination, necessitating the rescheduling of all the candidates who missed it.
It should be highlighted that the center's name, Beautiful Beginning CBT Centre, Apo, Abuja, misled the candidates by using "Gwagwalada" instead of "Apo."
The Board has thus rescheduled all applicants who were sent to the center but were unable to take their examination due to the incorrect address or for any other reason, in order to ensure that no candidate misses the examination.
C. CANDIDATES WHORE EXAMINATION WAS RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 27, 2023, BUT WHO COULD NOT RECEIVE THE NOTIFICATION
applicants who had their exam rescheduled for Thursday, April 27, 2023, but didn't receive their notification until late Thursday night and missed it will also sit the exam on Saturday, May 6, 2023, among the unverified applicants.
Some of these candidates were unable to receive the notification because their school still had access to their SIM cards, email addresses, and profile codes, which were used to receive messages.
The Board is going above and beyond to accommodate this group of candidates, who have also had the exam rescheduled to take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, despite repeated cautions that its processes are not school-based and that it would not accept responsibility for any such challenge.
D) APPLICANTS FROM CENTRES WITH REDUCED CAPACITY
Among the candidates who haven't taken their exam are those whose testing centers couldn't handle their full capacity of 250 students and, as a result, had to be batched; some of these centers took 150 candidates rather than the 250 that were allowed to them per session. Some of the remaining candidates in the batch sessions have also had their exams rescheduled and taken them, while others have not yet.
E) CANDIDATES WITH MISMATCHING DATA
For obvious reasons, certain CBT centers had data on some registered candidates that did not match. This was also made feasible by the candidates' negligence, as they failed to use the dual screens that the Board had provided to track the progress of their registration.
These candidates were not able to take the test because their mismatched personal information could not be corrected in time for them to take the test at the scheduled time.
They will take the test on Saturday, May 6, 2023, and the process of correcting their data is still in progress.
E. RESULTS ARE DISCLAIMED
On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, the Board will announce the results of the candidates who have already taken the exam. The Board had postponed the publication in order to guarantee that all required screening had been completed and that the mean and standard deviation had been determined in a reasonable manner.
On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, when candidates check their results, individuals who took the exam but encountered difficulties without being aware of them will instead see their notification for a rescheduled exam.
Therefore, it is strongly advised that all test takers check their results by Thursday, May 8, 2023, or earlier.
RESCHEDULED EXAMINATION PRINTING, F SLIP IN NOTIFICATION
To find out the time and location of their exam, all candidates in the aforementioned categories must print their slips by Thursday, May 4–5, 2023, at the latest.
Candidates must print their notification slips by no later than Thursday, May 4, 2023 in order to make the necessary preparations for the exam, since they will be grouped in a central place within their respective States to take it.
