While Aguero planning football comeback after being forced to retire with heart issue

Sergio Aguero is considering a spectacular career comeback having been forced to retire from professional football due to a heart condition.

 The 34-year-old called time on his career following only five Barcelona appearances after leaving Manchester City having been diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia after feeling discomfort in his chest.

 Having retired early in 2022, he made a one-off return to the pitch in Gerard Pique's Kings League in which he scored and copied the celebration of World Cup winning Lionel Messi.

 Following on from that appearance, Aguero has teased a return to professional football should he be able to regain his fitness having received a chip to monitor his heart.

 Aguero, speaking during an interview with BSC TV, as reported by The Mirror, said: "I have to get physically fit and if I hold out for six months... let's wait.

 "There are several clubs that want me. If I'm well, I would play for the Reds, clearly. At least I would have a farewell game."

 Aguero mentioned the reds during the chat, but fear not City fans he was referring to boyhood club Independiente in Argentina rival than their Premier League rivals.

 Aguero's return could mirror that of Manchester United's Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch at Euro 2020 before and was later fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator before returning to play in England.

 The former striker, who scored 184 Premier League goals and won five titles across 10 seasons, scored once for Barcelona against Real Madrid before his retirement.

 He said at the time: "It is a very difficult moment. The decision I have made I have taken for my health, that is the main reason, because of the problem that I had a month-and-a-half ago.

 "I was in good hands of the medical staff who have done their best and have told me the best thing would be to stop playing.

 "So I made that decision about a week ago and I want to tell everyone I did everything possible to have hope, but there wasn't very much."
