Manchester United player ratings as Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes good vs Nottingham Forest

Tom Heaton

Repelled Brennan Johnson's effort at 0-0 and made a good save from Danilo at 2-0.  Faultless whenever called upon all night.  8

 Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Had a fluid with Anthony again and showed his sense of adventure with advanced collaboration positions.  6

 Raphael Varane

Defended with ease but gave United a scare when he was hurt by Sam Surridge at the end of the first-half.  7

Lisandro Martinez

Another commanding performance next to Varane as they prepared for the Premier League resumption against Crystal Palace on Saturday.  7

 Luke Shaw

Squandered a number of good crossing opportunities on a steady evening where he was barely troubled by Forest's attackers.  6

One of the few highlights of an uneven first-half and his cross for Wout Weghorst was nodded against the post.  Had a good chance to score.  8

An unspectacular return to the starting XI alongside Casemiro in the first 45 minutes before he improved in the second, scoring easily.  7

Often creative and went close with a rasping shot.  Failed to complete 90 minutes again as he made way for Jadon Sancho.  6

 Bruno Fernandes

Executed a classy pass with the outside of his foot in the first-half and the same style of pass unlocked Forest for United's second goal.  7

 Alejandro Garnacho

Embarked on some threatening runs but lacked the end product in the first-half.  Drew was saved from Wayne Hennessey in the 61st minute shortly before he was killed.  6

 Wout Westhorst

Almost salvaged a harmless half with a header but it struck the post.  Somehow failed to get a penalty when Remo Freuler hacked his shin.  5

 Anthony Martial

Got a tad lucky with how the ball fell to him but took his goal well.  7

 Jadon Sancho

First appearance in 102 days and very bright.  7

 Marcus Rashford

Energized the attack with his directness and assisted Fred.  7

 Harry Maguire

 Late cameo.  6

 Victor Lindelof

 Came on with Maguire.  6

Rightly rested Marcus Rashford but risked Casemiro for far too long.  Won the tie handsomely and morale is even higher after a 12th successful home win.  7
