See What Enzo did to Havertz as Chelsea record transfer shows unexpected quality

Enzo Fernandez was always going to be an extremely popular figure at Chelsea.

The Argentine constantly shows for the ball, no matter where he is or the danger he could be in, and more often than not he finds someone in blue.  Tuesday night's win against Borussia Dortmund was no different.  Fernandez was one of the standout performers for Chelsea as they progressed into the Champions League quarter-finals with a 2-0 win on the evening and a 2-1 victory on aggregate.

Fernandez partnered Mateo Kovacic in a two-man central midfield and whenever one of them picked up the ball, Dortmund would usually send their midfield three to ferociously press the duo.  So for Fernandez and Kovacic, they couldn't dwell on the ball and if they did they would have to do so intelligently.

Graham Potter will have known this and that's perhaps why he put two of his best on-the-ball players in the middle of the pitch.  They were both able to break that press time after time.  It wasn't just what Fernandez did in possession that will have impressed Chelsea supporters, though, with one moment that perhaps went unnoticed on the night showing off the Argentina international's leadership qualities.

As seen on Chelsea's unseen footage from the Champions League win, after Kai Havertz hit the post in the first-half, Fernandez was the first person over to console his teammate, pat him on the back to try and keep his morale up.  It's something that would have surely been appreciated by Havertz, who of course went on to later score the winning goal in the tie.

Fernandez, from an outside point of view, seems to have settled in really well in west London.  It looks as if he loves the club and is really enjoying his football despite the team's rough patch of form.

Tuesday evening was an emotional one for all involved and particularly for the Argentine, who was touched by a moment that happened at full-time.  A young Chelsea supporter ran onto the Stamford Bridge pitch and asked for Fernandez's shirt, something that really resonated with the midfielder.
