Koala Muani was replaced in the World Cup final and was lucky enough to win the trophy for France with a 3-3 score.
The foreword was played through the goal and had only Emi Martínez is beaten, but saw Argentina's goalie block his effort.
The goaltender has since told GOAL that this was the "best rescue of his career". Argentina won the final on penalties, and Kolo Muani admits that life would have been a lot different if he had put his luck aside.
It could have made a difference to my life. I wish I had put it in the background, like everybody else, Like all Frenchmen, but it happened and those are the hazards of life," he told L'Equipe. It gives me the impression of working towards my goal. I'm working and I think I'm making progress. It will give me the courage to get on with my life and do it next time."
Muani added: "I want to move on, but it's part of my job, it's not as though I'm sad. I can't forget, we were about to bring back the third star. I'm not lying, I hate that.
Kolo Muani enjoyed a good season at the club level with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 11 times and producing 10 passes in 24 appearances in the Bundesliga. The striker was associated with a summer outing, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain both apparently interested in his services.
