Professor of Islamic studies Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede holds fellowships with the Islamic Academy of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, the Academy of Entrepreneurship, the Nigerian Institute of Management, the Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies, the Association of Islamic Religious Studies, and the Nigerian Academic of Letters. At the University of Ibadan, he received the 1977 Arab League Prize for Best Final Year Certificate Student in Islamic Studies.
He received numerous honors both domestically and overseas, including the Federal Government Undergraduate Merit Award from the University of Ilorin in 1981. He possesses master's and doctoral degrees in Islamic studies as well as a first-class degree in Arabic language and literature. His educational credentials include a Post-Graduate Diploma from the University of Ilorin.
He has served on the boards of numerous respected intellectual and university institutions. He served as the Chairman of the Committee of Directors of Academic Planning in Nigerian Universities from 2002 to 2004 and as President of the Association of African Universities (AAU) from 2004 to 2011 before voluntarily stepping down to make room for Professor Jegede, President Olusegun Obasanjo attended a conference in 2006 and was a participant at the 2014 National Political Conference. He was hired as a consultant for the restructuring of Nigeria's National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2006 as well.
He was the All West African Universities (AWAU)'s founder and honorary secretary general. He presently serves as Secretary General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs after serving from 2007 to 2018 as the Executive Secretary and National Coordinator of the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC).
From October 2007 to October 15, 2012, Professor Oloyede held the position of vice chancellor at the University of Ilorin. From 2011 to 2012, he also served as chairman of the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors (CVC).
Throughout Prof. Oloyede's five years as Vice-Chancellor
improved the University of Ilorin's standing among international universities and its financial situation.
On August 9, 2016, Prof. Oloyede began his duties as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's (JAMB) Registrar. Over the next three years, he completely overhauled the Board's operations. In addition to the massive physical and human development being undertaken from the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of the Board, the Board has paid an operating surplus of N20.7 billion to the Federal Government since 2016 and remitted N7.8 billion in 2017. Because of this, the Federal Government reduced the application fee into tertiary institutions by N50 billion.30%.
Globally renowned as an expert on Islam, Professor Oloyede was elevated to the title of Professor in 1995. He has around 100 publications in prestigious journals and has participated in a number of academic conferences both inside and outside of Nigeria.
Professor Oloyede was awarded the Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2014 before being given the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2022. He was honored with the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (Education Category) in 2022 as well as the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award in 2019. He was given the Integrity Public Servant Personality of the Year 2021 award by the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ). During February He was honored with the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service (Education Category) in 2022 as well as the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) Award in 2019. He was given the Integrity Public Servant Personality of the Year 2021 award by the National Executive Council of the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ). He received the Icon of Education Transformation and Peace award and was inducted as a life member of the NANS Hall of Fame in February 2023. The married professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede has 10 grandchildren and four adult children.

The Federal Military Government's Act (No. 2) of 1978, which was published on February 13th, 1978, served as the official document establishing the Board. The Federal Executive Council modified Decree No. 2 of 1978 by August 1988. The modifications were then defined in Decree No. 33 of 1989, which became operative on December 7th, 1989. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board was given the following powers by Decree No. 2 of 1978 (as amended by Decree No. 33 of 1989):
conduct matriculation exams for admission to all Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, regardless of their names.
(b) appoint Examiners, Moderators, Invigilators, members of the Subject Panels and committees, and other individuals with regard to the Matriculation Examinations and any additional issues ancillary to or associated therewith.
(c) after considering the following factors, place candidates in tertiary institutions who are appropriately competent.
The openings in each tertiary institution (i)
(ii) the regulations that each tertiary institution's owners or other competent authorities have approved.
(iii) the candidates' preference for specific tertiary institutions and programs as expressed or otherwise indicated by them
(iv) any additional issues that the Board may be asked to consider by the Honorable Minister or that it may deem necessary given the situation.
(d) compile and disseminate information on all issues pertaining to tertiary institution admissions or any other issue pertinent to the board's ability to carry out its duties.
(e) perform any additional tasks that are required or practical for the full fulfillment of all or any of the duties imposed on it by or in accordance with this Decree
80,000 hopefuls show up for the rescheduled UTME in 2023.
AROUND 80,000 applicants who were unable to take the rescheduled UTME for the 2023 session of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in a timely manner for reasons outside of their control did so throughout the nation on Saturday.
Malam Adamu Adamu, the minister of education who oversaw the process, expressed his satisfaction with how the rescheduled exam was handled.
Adamu observed the exam at the Computer Based Test, CBT, center located in Mambila Barracks, Asokoro District of Abuja while accompanied by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede. expressed happiness on the exercise's seamless execution.
