A group storms the EFCC office and demands that Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara, be taken into custody

On Monday morning, a few demonstrators invaded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office in Abuja and demanded the detention of Bello Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State.

Nasiru Ismaila Doka, the chairman of the Voice of the Voiceless, led the demonstrators who claimed to be its members.

The organization, according to Daily Sun, is requesting that the EFCC reopen an earlier probe into Matawalle's tenure that was hampered by a constitutional immunity provision at the time that protected the Governor.

Recall that Matawalle led Zamfara State as governor from 2019 to 2023.

Recently, some police officers raided his home and found some reportedly stolen vehicles. Even so, the automobiles were given back as per a court ruling.

However, they urged the anti-graft organization to detain the recently outgoing governor over allegations of theft of public monies in a protest letter the group sent to the EFCC today.
