Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, a seasoned actress from Nigeria, claims that before the rise of Afrobeats, Nollywood was the first to promote the nation's entertainment sector to the outside world.
This was disclosed by Omotola on Thursday via an Instagram post in which she reflected on her contributions to the Nollywood sector prior to the invention of social media.
She showed some of her colleagues in the business the old movie clips as evidence of introducing Nollywood to the globe before the development of Afrobeat.
Omotola claimed that someone sent her the movies, which featured Rita Dominic, Genevieve Nnaji, and Stella Damasus, and that they made her feel nostalgic.
Patience Ozokwor was also featured in one of the videos.
Someone showed me some of these videos, and it was nostalgic, hehe," she wrote.
"Despite the subpar quality and the lack of social media, these films broke down walls. We presented Nigerian entertainment to the world long before afrobeats. The world was faced by us. Still, we.
"List the movies you've seen. Lol
