The cut-off mark for universities according to JAMB is 140, 100 for polytechnics, and 100 for colleges of education

The National Minimum Tolerable Score for admission into universities, polytechnics, and institutes of education has been set at 140, 100, and 100 accordingly by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

This information was presented at the 2023 Policy Meeting of Tertiary Institutions on Saturday in Abuja by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede.

All institutions, according to him, must adhere to this guideline and must not deviate from the set points.

Every postsecondary institution, he continued, must uphold its own minimal standards, particularly with regard to institutional screening and grading in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), which cannot be less than 50 marks.

This is the minimum standard that all institutions must meet. This implies that no organization may lower its standards.Note that the 140 is sacred and cannot be violated for the 15 private universities that require between 120 and 130 points as a minimum.

This is due to the fact that the implemented system will not recognize 139, so make sure you comply, he stated.

Oloyede also stated that organizations cannot charge applicants a screening fee of more than N2,000.
