Saudi Arabia was ignored, which is why Messi joined Inter Miami. - Aguero

According to Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi chose Inter Miami over a move to Saudi Arabia because it was more convenient for his family.

Following his rejection of a record-breaking contract from the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, Messi moved to Inter Miami last month.

In Saudi Arabia, the former Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain forward decided against rekindling his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aguero also thinks that Messi, a former international teammate, may have chosen Inter Miami over other clubs because he was sick of playing elite football and wanted to play and unwind.

"I believe that at this point, Leo [Lionel Messi] and Cristiano, as well as many other players in their 32nd and 33rd years, may be weary of being held to such high standards.

"I believe Leo chose to live well and play as comfortably as possible for him and his family; nevertheless, if he had been playing in Europe, the requirements would have been different and he would not have been able to enjoy his final years as he had wished.

And it goes without saying that I believe he selected Miami over Arabia out of convenience. Miami is a lovely city with a sizable Latino population.
